This article describes the deployment of Pilvi™ when there is an existing AWS account to be transferred to Pilvi.
Process Overview
The process can be divided into two phases: preparation and implementation. The purpose of preparation is to list all the customers Amazon Web Services so that the Pilvi Support Team is able to make sure that each service is running correctly in Pilvi™. This listing can be done either manually or by using AWS Programmatic Billing Access. In addition to the list of services a rough monthly AWS budget is needed for the billing of services.
The implemantion is carried out by linking the customers AWS Account to Pilvi AWS Account.
Deployment Process
—————————————————-PREPARATION PHASE———————————————————-
1. Activate a Programmatic Billing Access in your AWS Console, see article AWS Programmatic Billing Access Process. Notice: Instead of using Programmatic Billing Access you may also list your Amazon Web Services manually but it causes some additional work. On the other hand the manual listing will speed up the deployment process as there is no need to wait for the accumulation of billing data.
2. Please inform the Pilvi Support Team once the Programmatic Billing Access is up and running. The accumulation of billing data takes 2-4 weeks. If you listed the services manually you may move on to next phase.
3. After the accumulation of billing data, export the Programmatic Billing Report (csv-file) from the AWS Console and deliver it to the Pilvi Support Team by email. In case of manual listing as well, please deliver the list of services to Pilvi Support Team by email.
4. Our Support Team announces that the services are manageable in Pilvi™ and provides ‘Pilvi™ User Account‘ and the ‘Pilvi™ AWS Account ID‘ to you.
————————————————-IMPLEMENTATION PHASE——————————————————-
5. Link your AWS Account to Pilvi AWS Account by creating a new role in IAM, see article How to link your AWS account to Pilvi™
6. To link your AWS billing with Pilvi ‘Pilvi Support Team‘ will send you an activation email to deploy Consolidated Billing
7. Your Pilvi Account is ready to manage your existing Amazon Web Services. Notice: You may still use your AWS Console normally to manage your services.
